First workshop : an introducing to Disaster Management along side with Tourism Development

Talking about research tourism development in disaster area, especially in Karanganyar. We ever have workshop 1 that held in mr. Nurhadi’s house. That is our first visit to him. 

There are some main and basic topic  about disaster management. We discuss about disaster, hazard, risk and vulnerability. 

Disaster- as we know that this earth do some activities. It is called phenomenon. It is caused by a lot of reasons. May be wind, water, earthquake, volcano eruption, fire, landslide high to low land, etc. It is not called as disaster when ever it is not influence human life. If the phenomenon may be, a hurricane in desert land, nobody get injured, nobody lived in that era in that place, no losses it is just phenomenon. It is called disaster if it is influenced human life. Make somebody injured, dead, or get losses. So, in other word,  we can not prevent nature phenomenon, but we can prevent disaster by disaster management.

 

“… a serious disruption of the functioning of community or a society causing widespread human, material, economic, or environmental losses which exceed the ability of the affected community or society to cope using  its own resources.”  (ISDR, 2004)

Right now, a lot of people live in profitable place, make them get easy to collect food and money. Especially in the mount forest, in high land, that is fertile and can make cultivation agriculture . but, in a mount they will meet  risk too. 

This life must take the risk. A choice  side by side with the risk. So, a skill must we build is called disaster management. 

As indonesian wise word, it is better to prevent, than to treat. It is better learn disaster management to minimalize losses and human injured when the disaster happen.
